Stage 3
20mins
Easy

Creamy overnight oats layered with banana and strawberry. Prep them the night before and wake up to breakfast already done. Delicious for babies and grown-ups too, so make one for baby and one for yourself!

timing

Prep time: 10 minutes

Rest time: 15 minutes

Chill time: Overnight

Total time: 25 minutes + overnight chilling

ingredients

For each jar:

method
  1. Add 2 tablespoons oats, 2 tablespoons yoghurt and 2 tablespoons milk to each Mini Munch Glass Jar and mix well.
  2. Leave to sit for 15 minutes. This gives the oats time to thicken so the fruit layers stay nicely on top instead of sinking straight to the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of mashed banana.
  4. Top with a layer of mashed strawberries. Alternatively, add the strawberries to the KiddoKook Pro and blend into a chunky strawberry sauce or purée.
  5. Pop the lids on and refrigerate overnight.
  6. In the morning, give it a stir and transfer baby's portion into a baby-safe bowl before serving. Then grab yours and breakfast is sorted!
tips

Why wait 15 minutes? It might seem like an unnecessary extra step, but it makes a difference. Giving the oats a little time to thicken helps stop those lovely fruit layers from disappearing straight to the bottom.

Strawberries two ways: Mash them with a fork for more texture, or use the KiddoKook Pro to make a quick chunky strawberry sauce or smoother purée.

Breakfast for two: Who said baby gets all the good stuff? Make one Mini Munch Jar for baby and another for yourself. Simply make a bigger portion for you, and maybe grab a bigger spoon.

Best enjoyed the next day: These overnight oats are at their best the following morning, when the oats are creamy and the fruit is fresh.

Mix it up: Once you've got the easy 2 tbsp oats + 2 tbsp yoghurt + 2 tbsp milk base, change up the fruit depending on what you've got at home.

Nutrition benefits

Oats: A source of fibre, including soluble fibre, which helps support a healthy digestive system.

Strawberries: Naturally rich in vitamin C, which supports normal immune function and helps the body absorb iron from food.

Banana: Adds natural sweetness, fruit and a lovely creamy texture without needing added sugar.

Yoghurt & milk: Provide protein and calcium, important nutrients for growing bodies and healthy bones.

Tips

Why wait 15 minutes? Giving the oat mixture a little time to thicken before adding the fruit helps those lovely banana and strawberry layers stay on top instead of sinking straight to the bottom.

Strawberries two ways: Mash them with a fork for more texture, or pop them into the KiddoKook Pro and blend into a chunky strawberry sauce or smoother purée.

Breakfast for two: Who said baby gets all the good stuff? Make one Mini Munch Jar for baby and another for yourself. Just make your portion a little bigger.

Remember the 2 + 2 + 2: For each jar, it's simply 2 tablespoons oats + 2 tablespoons yoghurt + 2 tablespoons milk. Once you remember the base, you can easily make one jar or a whole batch.

Mix up the fruit: Keep the same creamy oat base and swap the banana and strawberry for other soft fruits your little one already enjoys.

Storage

These overnight oats are best enjoyed the following morning, when the oats are creamy and the fruit is at its freshest.

Keep the jars covered and refrigerated overnight until ready to serve.

For baby, transfer the portion you need into a baby-safe bowl before serving and discard any leftovers that have already been eaten from.
